How much does it cost to stay at the bed and breakfast?

Two-room suites with private baths run $85 per night for one guest. Each additional guest in a room adds $15 per person which means that the per night cost for two people in a room is $100; for three people is $115; and for four people is $130. Single rooms (twin-size bed) with shared baths are $55 per night. Breakfast is always included.

How do I make a reservation?

You can make an online reservation by clicking here to our secure server or you can contact us by phone at 617-969-3919, by fax at 617-244-0690, or by email at reservations@walkerctr.org.

When do you expect payment?

We require a credit card to reserve your room. The credit card number will be entered onto our secure server and won’t be run until you check in.

Must I pay by credit card?

We need a major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover) to hold your reservation; however, we will accept payment by cash or by check drawn on a U.S. bank.

What is your cancellation policy?

Bed and breakfast guests may cancel up to 48 hours prior to 3 pm on the date of arrival. Beyond that time, your credit card will be charged for one night’s stay. We reserve the right to change that policy on busy holidays such as Patriot’s Day. Guests booking reservations for those days will be informed in advance of the cancellation policy.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in time is 2:00 pm and check-out time is 11:00 am. If you arrive earlier than 2:00 pm and the room is available, we are happy to give you the key.

If I arrive after normal workday hours, will someone be available to let me in?

Yes. We have a staff member who is on call 24/7. When you arrive, simply dial 617-447-1417 and someone will be there to check you in and show you to your room.

If check-out is at 11:00 am and my flight is in the evening, where can I store my luggage?

You may keep your luggage in our reception area; however, this is not a locked room.

When it’s time to leave, will I be able to print my boarding pass?

Yes! Just ask any staff member to help.

Do we need to bring our own linens?

No, The Walker Center for Ecumenical Exchange provides bed sheets, pillows, pillowcases, blankets, coverlets, and towels.

Are housekeeping services available?

In order to keep our rates affordable, we do not provide housekeeping services during your stay. Your bed will be made upon arrival, and we ask that upon check-out you strip your bed and place your sheets and towels in a pillowcase. However, should you need extra linens for any reason, they will be supplied.

Is there an elevator in the building?

Yes, we have an elevator at ground level that goes up to the third floor.

Is there a TV in my room?

No, to ensure the peace and quiet of our guests, televisions are not included in the rooms.

Are there hairdryers in the rooms?

We do not have hairdryers in the rooms. However, in case you’ve forgotten yours, we have one to lend. Please stop by the reception desk.

Is there WiFi?

Yes. WiFi is free and passwords are provided upon arrival.

Is parking available?

Yes, we have a large parking lot on our Grove Street entrance; parking is free. For GPS use, please enter the address of our parking lot: 171 Grove Street, Newton, Massachusetts 02466.

Is smoking permitted?

Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the grounds of The Walker Center for Ecumenical Exchange.

Are the rooms air conditioned?

In order to minimize our costs so that we may offer affordable rates to our guests, we rely on fans for cooling the rooms; however, at the height of the summer, we install window air conditioners for extra comfort.

When is breakfast?

Breakfast is served in the dining room from 7:30 – 9:00 am. The hot water kettle is on 24/7 and guests are welcome to help themselves to tea and cocoa.

What if I have a food allergy?

We have a wide variety of options on our breakfast menu, but if guests have a specific food allergy that we cannot accommodate, they are invited to bring their own food. We have a refrigerator and microwave oven for guest use.

Are you near public transportation?

Yes. The Walker Center for Ecumenical Exchange is within walking distance of the Riverside train terminal, a major station on the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority that leads to connections throughout Boston and its suburbs. For more information about routes and fares, click here.

Are there any nearby restaurants?

Yes. There are a few restaurants in the village of Auburdale. If you have a car, there are many restaurant choices in Newton and Watertown. Check with any staff member for more information. 

Is there a limit to how long I can stay?

Yes. The Walker Center for Ecumenical Exchange limits guests to short-term stays that are no longer than two weeks in duration, unless other arrangements are made and approved in advance by the Executive Director.
